Health and House Updates

Health: we had some good (hopefully) break through news after Jerry met with the Neurologist on Friday. His blood is currently having a hard time making up to his head. They are scheduling him for a MRI on his neck area to look for blockages. If there’s a blockage then they’ll have a procedure to unblock it to allow more blood flow to the brain. Overall his health seems to be improving. Cardiologist appointment set for 8/30 to check his heart to make sure everything is functioning well there.
House: The house is under contract for $275k and closing date is set at 9/30. That moved a little quicker than I had imagined but that’s a little bit more than Jerry was expecting. The house is being purchased as is, so no repair will have to come out of pocket to get the house up to any kind of current standards. He had planned to spend up to $20k in renovations to get it in shape to sell for that amount so all in all it turned out very well. Obviously, there’s a lot of keep sakes and boxes from everybody so we will carefully sort out everything and stage by person in the garage so you will have time to pick and choose through items before a yard sale or throwing things in the dumpster. Jerry is visiting The Terrace next week and possibly some more communities of that nature to figure out his next step. We’ve offered our spare bedroom and play room for him to live out of short or long term here in Overland Park. This all happened pretty quickly, I just tried to make a little progress with Jerry each week in getting him in a position to live comfortably in a retirement community and not have to worry about finances.
I will update once we hear back on the MRI and the blood pressure to the head situation.
